Famously, an hour and a half to the west is Mont St Michel with its gothic monastry and the Christain Dior museum at Granville en route. An hour to the east the historic city of Bayeux with its world famous Bayeux tapestry and cathedral and the nearby Omaha beach and war memorial.

The region is of course well known for the many D-Day landing sites and museums and sites from the Second World War.

The rolling farmland countryside scattered with Manoirs and Châteaux is mainly put to horse breeding and dairy farming from which the renowned Creme Fraiche D'Isigny and various soft cheeses are produced.
